The author could have done a better job by providing more cultural information in reference to Hispanics; their believes and medical practices. Hispanic families believe that the father of the family is the boss; however the spouse takes care of the children. I must add that this is changing as women are becoming more functional in the work force and as professionals. The article focuses on how due to the lack of communication and cultural competence, a certain percentage of Hispanics do not benefit from the best possible care. In fact, the article states that Hispanics have more unnecessary tests done to them due to the lack of communication with health care providers. Many health care professionals decide to document that the patient’s medical history is not available, rather than finding an interpreter to assist them. The article does a nice job describing how this lack of cultural knowledge impacts the Hispanic culture. I chose this article because I find it interesting and of great help to any nursing and health care professional; I am Hispanic myself and constantly looking for better ways to help my community. I personally see my grandmother struggling whenever she needs to see her physician, as she sometimes does not understand what him and his staff are telling her. On another note nursing is an ever changing career and the Hispanic culture is growing at an enormous rate, becoming culturally competent does not only provide the patient with good care but can make the nurses’ job easier and more rewarding. I learned that there is a lot more stuff to the soil than we can see; there is floating leaf litter, Sunken leaf litter, silt and sand all in a jar of soil. However, it takes time to sort itself out and that is why we left it alone for a week so it could separate out into all the different layers. The composition of the soil could effect organisms in the quadrat for many reasons. The composition effects the nutrients. Plants require a certain amount of nutrients to produce what they need to. The nutrients come from the decomposed soil so it has to be the right amount of decomposition that takes place. We have mostly granite rocks in this area and soil derived from granite this effects us and plants in a big way. Granite rocks cause acid rain because of the chemicals that they that they give off into the air. A plant requires a pH of 6.8-7.0. The acid rain will change the pH so that it is not that. Our soil component graph compared pretty much the same with the other graphs in our class. The only thing that was a little bit different was the floating leaf litter at the top of the jar. I think this was just because of the soil that we got and the way we got it. This data effects people in many ways. It effects farmers and people that grow crops the most because their plants need a certain amount of nutrients to grow and produce what they need to produce. If this is different in any kind of way the plants will get either to much nutrients or to little nutrients that will kill it.

Solar insolation is the amount of Earths direct exposure to the suns rays from incoming solar radiation. When the subsolar point is at the Tropic of Capricorn, it is during the December or winter solstice and is when the southern hemisphere receives the most solar insolation. Thus, it is also when the southern hemispheres summer begins. Furthermore, this is also when the areas at latitudes higher than the Antarctic Circle receive 24 hours of daylight because there is more solar radiation to be deflected south due to the Earths axial tilt.

The government was incapable of creating an effective compromise, and the question over slavery divided the nation politically, as the increased debate over â€Å"free soil† and expansion of slavery occurred, as well as debates sur rounding the Wilmot Proviso. The changes of the party system, including the death of the Whigs in 1850, and the apparent rising of the Republican Party, created a dividing plane amongst political leaders in America. The North and the south were always different, in spite of failed attempts to industrialize the south, in â€Å"southern reconstruction†, the sectional tensions emerged from the question of slavery still persisted in Southern culture, and landscape. The North relied on textiles, manufactured through there vast industry, however, the south was much less developed and substantially agricultural: they depended on slave labor to survive. Thus, the south recognized abolition of slavery as a direct threat towards their survival. In February 1861 representatives of succeeded states met at Montgomery, Alabama and formed the Confederate States of America. The north and the south were completely divided sections, into the Confederates and the Union, and two months later the civil war erupted, and it is evident to say that it began over the demand for the South to maintain and spread slavery into new land acquired. The questions of slavery haunted Americans and caused a nation division politically and sectionally.
